When you visit Walt Disney World Resorts it is, without a doubt, "a small world after all". There are a number of unforgettable resort hotels in different categories. There are also associated hotels on the Disney World property that have great access to the theme parks, restaurants, shops and other attractions.
How many different hotels are in the Walt Disney World Resort? If you count the camping cabins in Ft. Wilderness, than there are more than 16 amazing hotels for you to stay at. There are three categories of hotels. Each is geared to a different price budget.
Deluxe Hotels
Animal Kingdom Lodge where you and your family can watch the animals grazing in the wild below your balcony.
Boardwalk in the Epcot area will remind you and your family of the glory days in Atlantic City
Contemporary Resort is located at the edge of the Magic Kingdom and is the only hotel that you can walk from to get there. The monorail has a station here to transport you to all parks on the system
Grand Floridian is at the far side of the Magic Kingdom area and it is designed and decorated to remind people of the early 1900’s and of Victorian style resorts.
Polynesian Resort is at the edge of the 7 Seas Lagoon located at the front of the Magic Kingdom and it 100% Polynesian. You can experience a Luau dinner on the grounds.
Wilderness Lodge is in the Magic Kingdom area and was built to remind the guests of America’s own exceptional national parks. Make sure you check out the erupting geysers on the property.
Yacht and Beach Club is the final deluxe category hotel. Staying here will remind a guest of a vacation on Martha’s Vineyard. This hotel resides in the Epcot area.
All of the deluxe hotels have full service restaurants as well as fast food venues for snacks. There is valet parking, on site children’s clubs, activities and pools. Some have beach access.
Although not a category, two hotels are designated as Disney Vacation Club
Old Key West is in the Downtown Disney area and is designed in the colorful shades of the glory days of Key West when Hemingway and his cats reigned supreme.
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa is also in the Downtown Disney area and bordering the edge of the property. It is reminiscent of Saratoga Springs, New York, a historic vacation get away area of the early 1900’s late 1800’s.
Moderate Resorts
Caribbean Beach is in the Epcot grounds. Guests are treated to tropical colors and themes. There is also a pirate theme. The hotel is well known for Aruba Beach which is a long and hidden sandy beach for guests.
Coronado Springs is in the Animal Kingdom area and it will remind guests of the Southwestern US with its waterfront Casitas and a playground that recreates an archaeological dig site. A Mayan temple waterslide tops off the décor. Maybe we should book here for December 21, 2012.
Port Orleans has two sections: Riverside and French Quarter. Each is precisely decorated to remind guests of that area of old New Orleans.
Value Resorts
All Star Resorts (Movies, Music and Sports). Each is decorated toward one of these iconic areas in US history with souvenirs and reminders of the same ideas used as the decorations throughout the place. These are located in the Animal Kingdom area.
Pop Century Resort is in the Animal Kingdom area and is homage to American pop culture.
In a category of its own is Ft. Wilderness which is a full service camping site with large spaces for mega RV’s and camping cabins for people who want a "real" rustic woods experience. Tent sites are also available on the property.
