Summertime in the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando can become a very hot experience, but there are some things you can do to battle the heat! "Hot" is an understatement when talking about summertime in Orlando, Florida. But you wouldn't want to miss roaming around the magical world just because of the heat would you? You still can enjoy your trip as long as you follow these simple tips and tricks.
1.) You can start by wearing a hat
Most people are smart enough to remember light-colored shorts and Tees, but it takes more than that to ward off the sun's rays! Not only does a hat protect your face from getting burned, but you also will be genuinely surprised at how much of a difference a hat makes in regulating your temperature. Every single family member should have one.
2.) Bring sunscreen
Once again, the difference between over-heating and being comfortable seems to be found in the difference between what "most people" remember, and what a select, few remember. Most people would buy a huge bottle of sunscreen and apply it while in the hotel room before starting their day in the resort. Be smart enough and buy yourself a small bottle of sunscreen which you can put inside your pocket or bag and bring it with you the whole day. By doing this, you can re apply it anytime, anywhere.
3.) Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon - Be ready to get wet!
Walt Disney World Resort doesn't have the world's 2 most-visited water parks for nothing. It's just like being in the beach where you can chill and relax in a shady area, plus there are water slides, rides and a lot more attractions you must try. Be sure to get to the parks early to grab a prime spot, and even consider bringing a picnic to add to that authentic day at the beach feel - though the restaurants in the water parks are nothing short of amazing, of course.
4.) Be the Man (or Woman) With the Plan
Planning your day ahead of time not only allows you to see more of what Walt Disney World has to offer due to less time spent "flying by the seat of your pants," but it also allows you to schedule "AC" breaks. Other than the outdoor attractions, there are also indoor attractions you can definitely enjoy which are air-conditioned, giving you a break from the heat. Plan a siesta time during the heat spike in the afternoon to catch a show, eat a snack, or check out an indoor attraction for about an hour. Looking for places to keep you cool while at Disney World Resort is a waste of time, especially if it's unplanned. That's why it is important to plan break schedules ahead of time.
5.) Drink lots of fluids
Bottled water at the park is expensive, and Florida tap water tastes pretty bad, so find a way to bring a pack of bottled water of your own. You will be able to save a lot of money by simply driving to the nearest grocery store, or even taking a cab to buy water. Believe it or not, water bottles inside the water park cost more than $2 each.
By doing all the tips mentioned above, you will find yourself comfortable rather than over-heating. This way, you will enjoy your visit to Disney World more.
